DIY Starfish Faux Sea Glass Painting!

Materials:

~Old 8 x 10 picture frame   ~Neon blue and neon green food coloring   ~White school glue   ~Scissors

~Foam or paint brush   ~Sandpaper(tan)   ~Free starfish printable   ~Rope yarn or jute  ~Hot glue gun

~Painters tape   ~Gold paint pen   ~Disposable container for paint

Steps:

1-Download free starfish printable here, then tape to bottoms side of glass from picture frame:  Free Starfish Printable

2- Trace over the starfish pattern with the gold paint pen, then let dry.

3-Mix about 3 TBS. of white glue with 3 drops of blue and 1 drop of green food coloring. Paint around the outside of the gold outline of the starfish, using horizontal strokes.  Let dry, repeat 1 or 2 more coats.

4- Cut out the starfish pattern, then use to cut out the shape out of sandpaper, making it slightly bigger than the starfish.

5-Turn the painting over and glue the sandpaper(back side facing you, like the pic), onto the glass over the painted starfish shape.

6-Hot glue the rope around the frame as shown( my string took 4 rows).

7-*optional- I used extra sandpaper to scrape the sides of the frame for a more weathered look.

8-Glue the glass plate to the inside of the wood frame, with the painted side showing at the rope side or front of the frame.  Now it is ready to display!
